Qigong (pronounced ‘Chi gung’) is gentle exercise and suitable for all ages and abilities.
Exercises are done standing or moving and you don’t use a mat or any other equipment. All you need is comfortable, loose fitting clothing and flat shoes or trainers.
Qigong works by stimulating the Qi (energy) in your body, helping to get rid of used Qi or to collect fresh Qi.
How?
We have energy channels all around our bodies and our energy flows through these channels, down our arms and legs, around our torsos etc. If we have an injury or problem we feel pain as the flow of energy is being blocked or restricted. Along the energy channels there are points used in acupuncture and acupressure to stimulate the flow of energy. In Qigong the way you move and touch your body also stimulates these points.
